New Beginners

New to kayaking or have special needs that require our special attention?

Start sea kayaking and learn fundamental skills and techniques with our bi-monthly Sea Starter courses held at Sandringham.

Specialised Tuition

  • Sea Kayaking groups who need a basic introduction to paddling to increase confidence before a journey
  • Singles and couples who are booked in for overseas sea kayaking expeditions with little or no experience
  • Paddlers with special needs
  • Anyone that prefers a 'one-on-one' learning environment.

We can deliver any skills that you require, from a basic introduction to sea kayaking to more complex skills such as negotiating Surf Zones and Eskimo Rolling. Our specialised tuition classes are run from The Kayak Shop - Training & Hire Centre at Sandringham every Saturday morning. Training is also available from other venues upon request. Accelerate the learning process with our qualified and patient Instructors.

The Sea Starter course is...

  • Held over two days, Saturday and Sunday
  • Sea Starter Courses are held bi-monthly at our Training & Hire Centre at Sandringham
  • You can complete the course in consecutive days over one weekend or enjoy the flexibility of completing the course over a few months when time permits.

Start sea kayaking and learn fundamental skills and techniques with our bi-monthly Sea starter courses held at Sandringham. Then try something different with Beyond Basics courses. Perhaps after you complete the course, challenge yourself to our Victorian Journeys adventure program or our Kayak the Whitsundays.

East Coast Kayaking, in partnership with Canoe Victoria is offering training and assessment of Australian Canoeing sea kayaking qualifications. The Australian Canoeing Award Scheme is nationally recognised and aligned with the Outdoor Recreation Training Package. More information - Award Scheme.

Our AC qualified staff are committed to providing great service and excellent instruction in all facets of the Award Scheme.
